News.lk is the official news portal of the Government of Sri Lanka that was launched in 1997. Presently, the website operates in all three languages (Sinhala, Tamil and English). With the collaboration of Sri Lanka Mobitel and Dialog, the website provides a breaking news alert service via SMS. Meanwhile, the website features political and current affairs, world business, sports, cultural and travel content, provincial-level news and cabinet decisions. It primarily aims to provide information relating to the activities of the government.
